Actually, they keep using these two words just like this all the time. In one and the same Liedertext they use "at a lesson" and "in class" and my students are quite confused about it.
"Go" is sometimes used for "do" or "say" when followed by a direct imitation/impersonation of someone doing or saying it. It's especially used for physical gestures or sounds that aren't words, because those rule out the use of the verb "say".
You can both deliver and give a class in British English, but both words would be pretentious (to mean to spend time with a class trying to teach it), and best avoided in my view. Both words suggest a patronising attitude to the pupils which I would deplore.
The point is that after reading the whole post I stumm don't know what is the meaning of the sentence. Although there were quite a few people posting about the doubt between "dig in" or "digging", etc, etc, I guess that we, non natives stumm don't have a clue of what the Echt meaning is.
